Perpetual Help Home receives $92,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to provide a new program that addresses women who fall through the cracks of other programs for the homeless.
This project provides nine apartments in Victoria to house families and women
with more severe disabilities. A staff caseworker manages Hope Net and helps
the program's clients access the social services they need. When we remove the
turmoil that homelessness can cause and help provide a more a structured life,
these women can function at a higher level, therefore becoming more productive
community members. The Victoria County United Way provides the cash match for
the Hope Net project. For every dollar given by the local United Way, HUD
provides nine dollars for this program. This 9:1 match on dollars is an
amazing opportunity to provide housing in our community for a vulnerable
population.
