Faces and Stories

A message from Tara, former resident:

Tara There is nothing I'd rather do than spread a message of hope. I miss all of you so much. It was you guys that helped me establish myself and become a productive member of society. It is only because of Perpetual Help Home and the people associated with it that I am where I am today.

In the two years that I was a resident there, I learned how to mother my child, which is why I have such a wonderful daughter that will grow up to respect me. She talks a lot. She will say the same word over and over again until you repeat it.

Anyway, I went to college and learned so many job skills, which is why I have a great job making good money. I learned how to love myself, which is why I can actually love the man that I was meant to love. I learned about God's love for me and how he has a plan for all of us and who never leaves us. Which is why I am HAPPY! After 11 years in bondage I am free!!!!! I love my life.

This place really works. I am living proof. I have been drug-free and jail-free for 3 years and will NEVER go back (and I wouldn't just say that).

Don't get me wrong I still deal with drug dreams and temptations, but I am strong because Perpetual Help Home taught me strength. I love you. I have so much respect for you ladies and what you all stand for and believe in.

Anything is possible!

What PHH residents are doing to make a difference in their lives?

"The difference in my life now is that I don't seek God just when I get in trouble or when I feel hopeless. I see him daily for wisdom and guidance... . I have a relationship with Him.
